Trade Central is a Nelson-based, family owned business that grew out of our wish to provide a reliable and punctual service to homeowners and business owners in the wider Nelson area.
Managing contractors can be a pain, and juggling contact details is just the start. Sometimes, you’ll spend more time interviewing and vetting contractors than they will getting the actual work done.
Our wish is that you have one point of call for everything, that you can book a contractor easily from the same phone number, no matter what project you have in mind for your home.

We have a Certifying plumbers and gas fitters (easy to remember their names – they’re both called Rod), two sparkies (Nick and Phil), three painting teams (Shane, Tim and Martijn), two interior plasterers (Tim and Mit), two tilers (Corey and Pietro), four building teams (Douglas, Stuart, David, and Arie), a glazier (Paul), a bricklayer (Brian), a building designer (Sam), two joiners (Jack and Nic), two handymen (Ben and Kevin), a specialist gutter cleaner (Kevin), and the people who manage them all are our project and operations managers Mark and Ted.
Along the way we were not entirely surprised to find that good service and good communication cost no more. Our customers have been surprised – and definitely delighted that it’s possible to get a great job done, reliably and on time. Although we’re a growing company, we enjoy – and our clients enjoy – the personal touch – each job is followed up upon completion where possible, and for larger projects there is a regular flow of communication.
So here’s the bottom line for us – we want to be the type of tradesmen you dream of having – turning up on your doorstep exactly when we say we will, cleaning up after ourselves, not leaving until the job is finished, doing the job right first time and on budget, and if there’s more than one type of trade required, looking after all the scheduling so that any inconvenience to you is minimised – and doing it all for pretty much the same price the others charge.
